Join a Share the Wonder Giving Club

Joining one of our Share the Wonder giving clubs—Wonderful Acre Club, Wonderful Oaks Clubs, or Wonderful Trails Club—is one of the best ways to amplify your impact on conservation work in the Columbia Gorge. By making a gift to become a member of any of these three circles, you join an exclusive group of supporters who are leading the fight to preserve this ecological wonder.

We hope you will consider joining the Wonderful Acre Club, Wonderful Oaks Club, or Wonderful Trails Club to elevate your investment, and your impact, even further.

Join the Wonderful Acre Club – $25,000

If we are to ensure the Columbia Gorge remains a natural wonder in perpetuity, we must protect it now. You can join us in
this historic undertaking with a donation to protect an acre of land at Heartleaf Bluffs and become a member of Friends’
Wonderful Acre Club.

Just west of the Klickitat River near Lyle, Washington, Heartleaf Bluffs offers a spectacular landscape with grand twin
bluffs, stunning views, climate-resilient Oregon white oak habitat, precious wildlife, and ubiquitous heartleaf buckwheat
throughout the property that inspired the preserve’s name. It was owned by the same family for over a century and has
remained unchanged through decades. Together, we can ensure it remains a vibrant, living place—wondrous and wild.

This unique opportunity allows you to leave a personal legacy to protect the Gorge. Your gift will help Friends protect
the extraordinary land at Heartleaf Bluffs. Its stunning views, important white oak habitat, and potential trail connection
opportunities make it a gem that must be preserved for future generations.

We secured the just-over 100-acre property for $2.5 million, bringing the preservation opportunity to $25,000 per acre.

As a member of the Wonderful Acre Club, you will be a part of an exclusive group of Gorge protectors who will be
recognized on campaign materials (you may also remain anonymous if you choose) and invited to a special celebratory
event at the end of the campaign.

Your Wonderful Acre Club membership gift can be made all at once or over a three-year pledge.

Fill out the pledge form below, or contact Friends’ philanthropy staff members Pam Davee at pam@gorgefriends.org (971.634.2036) or Lori Warner at lori@gorgefriends.org (971.634.0594) to make your gift and join the Wonderful Acre Club!

Join the Wonderful Oaks Club – $15,000

Restoration and stewardship are the quiet protectors of the Gorge. When you become a member of the Wonderful Oaks
Club, you are helping Friends restore oak habitats at Cape Horn, including one of the Gorge’s most critical keystone species, the Oregon white oak.

Oregon white oaks are slow-growing and can reach heights of up to 100 feet, spreading their branches far and wide to
form an extensive canopy, as wide as 80 feet at times. They are special in that their acorns are especially sweet compared to other oak species, which makes wildlife favor the tree as a food source. The white oak provides habitat and food for countless species of wildlife, including the Washington state-endangered western gray squirrel and is one of the best trees to plant to attract butterflies as it supports hundreds of species of caterpillars.

In addition to their climate resilience, Oregon white oaks have remarkable longevity. It is awe-inspiring that some white
oaks have stood tall for centuries, witnessing the passage of time and the unfolding of history. Its longevity serves as a
testament to its strength and resilience, capturing our imagination and inviting us to reflect on the vastness of time.

Friends has identified approximately 50 acres primed for oak restoration on our Cape Horn Preserve. Your gift of $15,000
will ensure that Friends can restore and steward one-half acre of land for this vital species.

As a member of the Wonderful Oaks Club, you will be a part of an exclusive group of Gorge protectors who will be
recognized on campaign materials (you may also remain anonymous if you choose) and invited to a special celebratory
event at the end of the campaign.

Join the Wonderful Trails Club – $10,000

Trails connect us. They lead us on adventures and take us to new places. They can be inspirational or simply provide a
place for a gentle walk. The Columbia Gorge is a hiker’s dream and Friends is making it even better. When you become a
member of the Wonderful Trails Club, you are helping to reshape how people experience the Gorge.

Gorge Towns to Trails is an initiative to create a world-class network of trails encircling the Columbia Gorge. The 200-
mile loop trail network will connect communities with recreation, promote alternative transportation options, and create
contiguous parcels of protected lands that benefit wildlife. It also would serve as an innovative tool to disperse congestion
at popular trailheads and introduce people to spectacular but less-visited areas of the Gorge.

Over 80% of the necessary land corridor miles are already secured, but certain areas present significant challenges.
Friends is currently working with the U.S. Forest Service on a joint initiative to engage the community in the planning and
development of a new link in Gorge Towns to Trails that would connect Mosier to The Dalles. And, we are close to breaking
ground on a new trail from the Gorge Discovery Center to the top of Mt. Ulka!

This new section will include approximately 22 miles of trails. Your gift of $10,000 will fund one-half mile of trail planning.

As a member of the Wonderful Trails Club, you will be a part of an exclusive group of Gorge protectors who will be
recognized on campaign materials (you may also remain anonymous if you choose) and invited to a special celebratory
event at the end of the campaign.

Your Wonderful Trails Club membership gift can be made all at once or over a three-year pledge.
